First
Steps.
Choose
the place for children games and activities.
Create more space by removing coffee tables, magazine racks, etc.
Pile large pillows in empty areas if you don't have enough chairs.
Maybe, it will be better to remove some brittle and unsteady things
away from the playing area.
Empty your closet
and fill it with hangers for your guest's coats.
The place for food and
beverage station must be not far from
playing area. Make sure you have enough guest seating. Count the
available seats in your home (dining room chair, bedroom dressing
chairs, a piano bench and good patio furniture, as needed). You can
also rent chairs and tables, or borrow them from good friends and
neighbors.
Place a small greeting table
near the front door. On the table, make sure to include a decorative
pen and name tags if some of kids won't know each other. Also
include any hats, masks, and necklaces for guests to wear during the
party.
Inside
Decor.
Now begin
decorating the main party room and the place for refreshments .
Don't forget about the staircase railing. You can use traditional
decorations: balloons and ribbons, flowers and plants, pictures and
posters, paper-made stars and inscriptions etc.
Outside
decor.
Place signs in
the yard or on the door to welcome your guests and get them in the
mood early (and to help them to find your house or apartment easy).
Include a balloon bouquet with the yard decorations, and place
twinkle lights/ spot lights in your yard in the trees. Replace the
porch light with a specialty bulb, and line the walkway with lights
or flags.
Place for
Food & Beverage.
Prepare a table
skirt or big tablecloths to cover the table. You will need: plates
(big and small) , cups, forks, spoons, napkins. Be sure to have
extra garbage bags. It may be convenient to place a little coffee
table near the big one for additional equipment.
